Spire Cambridge Lea, Cambridge, UK.

Design and supply of beautiful hospital en-suites to promote patient, visitor and staff wellbeing.

Project brief.

Spire Healthcare is one of the UK’s largest private hospital providers with 39 hospitals and 8 clinics across England, Wales and Scotland.

As part of a refurbishment project at their Cambridge Lea site, Spire wanted to improve the standard of finish of their en-suite rooms, as well as improve access for patients with short-term impairments (e.g. a hip replacement or cataract operation).

Project scope.

Motionspot was appointed as Design Consultant to shape the concept design, specification and product supply of the accessible bedrooms and bathrooms at Spire Cambridge Lea.

We created room designs that supported a range of access requirements, including ambulant patients, full wheelchair and commode access, and two dementia-friendly bathrooms.

Crucial to this project was ensuring any impact on the operational capability of the hospital was mitigated. We developed a phased build programme to ensure as many rooms as possible remained functional.

We coordinated with relevant contractors to install the rooms to the highest quality finish. Post-construction we provided operations & maintenance guides for the SCL facilities team.
