Hotel Voco

Project Brief

Motionspot was appointed access designers for Hotel Voco in Manchester, a 189-room boutique hotel inspired by New York’s Brooklyn borough and developed by Bespoke Hotels.

Our role embedded seamless accessibility across all guest experiences, creating 18 wheelchair and ambulant accessible rooms (including two with concealed ceiling track hoists) to welcome visitors with physical, sensory, and cognitive impairments while preserving industrial-chic luxury.

“Hotel Brooklyn has demonstrated how accessibility can be incorporated into a luxury hotel. We hope the success of Hotel Brooklyn inspires others in the industry to look at how they can improve their accessible facilities to help make UK hospitality more accessible for all.”

Robin Sheppard, chairman of Bespoke Hotels

Innovative Ceiling Track Hoists:

Communal & Staff Support:

  • Created level-access entrances, lowered reception desks, accessible public toilets, and staff training, plus supported the hotel’s Access Charter and Access Champions programme.

Project Impact

Motionspot’s innovations generated an additional £217,000 in revenue from accessible suites and events in Hotel Voco’s first full trading year. The hotel earned top industry awards, including Accessibility Innovator (Boutique Hotelier 2022) and Cateys Accessibility Award (2021), while achieving TripAdvisor’s top 1% global ranking. By proving accessibility drives both profit and prestige, Hotel Voco has inspired UK hospitality to prioritise inclusive luxury as standard.
