User engagement

Human needs and aspirations are varied, complex, and often not perceivable. They also have a profound impact on how individuals use and enjoy an environment. Central to Motionspot’s inclusive design approach is actively seeking and including these different perspectives throughout all projects, creating an evidence-based approach.

Engagement sessions create an opportunity for businesses and organisations to connect with the end-users of the products or services they provide, to ensure that the users requirements and expectations are met and prevent assumptions being made.

At Motionspot, we conduct research and engage with communities, advocacy groups, and employee affinity groups to gain a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within a given environment. We also mobilise and facilitate a dedicated ‘project user group’, composed of a diverse range of individuals with lived experiences, such as physical disabilities, neurodiversity, and gender equality, for ongoing consultation and engagement. Designs are tested and reviewed with both the project user group and any key stakeholders affected by the design, ensuring practical feedback is incorporated. Our research and user insights services are flexible and can be delivered in-person, virtually, or through a hybrid approach, tailored to the needs of each project.

Engagement sessions can occur at various stages of a project but are commonly found:

1. Early Project Stages (Project Phase 1): After a brief is agreed to receive user feedback on the topic of research.
2. Midway Project Stages: For input on progression and work produced to ensure they are in line with the principles discussed and findings from initial engagement session in Project Phase 1.
3. After Project Completion: For learnings and feedback for future projects.
