• Highlighting who will be able to access the environment
• Reduces costs by identifying and addressing design risks early
• Enhances staff wellbeing and boosts productivity
• Improves tenant recruitment and recruitment of diverse talent
• Increases rental yield and occupier satisfaction
• Future-proofs buildings against evolving regulations and tenant expectations
• Strengthens ESG performance and delivers social value
• Enhances brand reputation through a commitment to wellbeing and inclusion
3 Designing beyond compliance
Buildings and spaces designed to minimum standards of building regulations won’t create accessible and inclusive buildings for everyone. At Motionspot, we help clients understand how to design for people with a range of physical, cognitive and sensory disabilities including neurodivergence. We also consider building features for other protected characteristics such as faith, age, ethic background and safety for women and young girls.
Importantly, we recognise that inclusive environments must account for a wide range of intersecting characteristics each influencing how people navigate and engage with the built environment. By considering these characteristics from the outset and providing practical recommendations during the design process, we help create spaces that are not only accessible but truly equitable and welcoming for everyone.
