Project Brief

Motionspot was appointed by Retirement Villages Group (RVG), operator of 16 premium retirement villages across the UK’s most desirable locations, to lead inclusive design for their apartment refurbishment programme.

Our role focused on upgrading living spaces to be aspirational, contemporary, and future-proofed, ensuring accessibility supports diverse physical, sensory, and cognitive needs without compromising style or budget.

Project Scope

Motionspot delivered end-to-end design and specification support to modernize RVG apartments, blending adaptability with aesthetic appeal across kitchens, bathrooms, and living areas.

Layout & Product Specification:

Collaborated with RVG’s team to develop optimized layouts and a curated product mix featuring removable, adjustable fixtures that enable seamless adaptation as resident needs evolve.

Interior Finishes & Sensory Design:

Advised on lighting, acoustics, materials, and colour schemes to reduce sensory overload, enhance orientation, and support cognitive wellbeing, with dementia-friendly principles integrated throughout.

Scalable Refurbishment Framework:

Created a repeatable design template for rollout across multiple villages, ensuring consistency in luxury, functionality, and inclusivity.

Project Impact

Motionspot’s refurbishments have redefined later living at RVG villages, delivering apartments that feel boutique yet fully adaptable, proving style and support can coexist. By embedding dementia-inclusive and sensory-smart design from the start, we’ve extended resident independence, reduced future modification needs, and elevated market appeal.
